This week, the 2025 Ruth Rappaport Prize for Women Pioneers was awarded to Dr. Efrat Bron-Harlev, CEO of Schneider Children's Medical Center of Israel, part of the Clalit group.
This prestigious award, the only one of its kind in Israel, was granted this year in the amount of $25,000 to each recipient. Dr. Bron-Harlev received the award in recognition of her leadership in advancing innovation and pioneering breakthroughs in pediatric medicine in Israel. The award acknowledges her unwavering commitment to children's health and her extraordinary vision, which has transformed Schneider Children's not only into Israel's leading pediatric hospital but also into a hub of hope, research, and pioneering medical innovation.
Winning this award is a testament to the values that have guided Dr. Bron-Harlev throughout her career, particularly during Operation Iron Swords, when she led an exceptional effort to provide specialized care for children returning from captivity. She initiated and led the establishment of the Department of Returnees at Schneider Children's a dedicated department designed in advance to provide comprehensive medical, emotional, and psychological care for the children and families who returned from Gaza. Schneider Children's was not only their medical provider but also a safe, compassionate, and supportive environment that helped them begin their rehabilitation process.
In the spirit of her mission, Dr. Bron-Harlev has chosen to donate her prize money to Schneider Children's.
Dr. Bron-Harlev stated:
"I am deeply honored to receive this award and choose to dedicate it to Schneider Children's Medical Center of Israel out of my commitment to continuing the advancement of pediatric medicine in Israel, fostering research and innovation, and ensuring that every child receives the best possible care. Children are our future and our hope, and for them, we will continue to go above and beyond in everything we do. I would like to thank The Bruce and Ruth Rappaport Foundation for selecting me and for their generous award, which will enable us to expand our efforts for the well-being of children."
