Dr. Ben-Aroya Milstein, a resident of Kiryat Ono, began her career at Schneider Children's 22 years ago, initially as a doctoral student, proceeded with a residency in child psychiatry, and then as a senior physician and Director of the Tourette and Tic Clinic. For the past eight years, she has led the Psychosomatic Medicine Clinic, one of the country's largest psychiatric clinics for children and adolescents, including 16 subspecialty clinics considered leading in their field both in Israel and internationally.

Dr. Ben-Aroya Milstein is a graduate of the Tel Aviv University School of Medicine and is a researcher in the field of child psychiatry, with a focus on Tourette Syndrome and psychopharmacology for chronic illnesses. She holds an academic appointment as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Medicine at Tel Aviv University and is a lecturer in the Continuing Education Program. She also serves on the Examination Committee for Child Psychiatry Residency (Stage B) for the Israel Medical Association and is a member of the Teaching Committee for the Department of Psychiatry at Tel Aviv University.

Under Dr. Ben-Aroya Milstein's leadership, the Mental Health Division will continue to offer a range of services, including an inpatient unit specializing in eating disorders and mind-body disorders and a day treatment unit for eating disorders. The division also operates specialized clinics addressing various mental health issues in children and adolescents, such as depression and suicidality, anxiety, tic disorders and Tourette Syndrome, post-trauma, neurodevelopmental disorders, psycho-neurophysiological conditions, parental authority, learning disabilities, family therapy, selective mutism, attention and concentration, crisis intervention, and a general psychiatric clinic. Additionally, the division provides consultation services in mental health to other departments and clinics at the hospital.

According to Dr. Noa Ben-Aroya Milstein: "The philosophy of the Mental Health Division at Schneider Children's is based on a broad understanding of the mind-body connection and integrates treatments based on multidisciplinary and multi-professional approaches, alongside innovative research. I am both happy and excited to take on the leadership of the division, especially in this period, where child psychiatry is an area that requires the utmost attention in order to nurture the next healthy generation."

Dr. Efrat Bron-Harlev, CEO of Schneider Children's Medical Center, commented: "One of the most significant issues in treating children is their mental health and well-being. Mental health overall, particularly in children, is a critical foundation for recovery and an integral part of the delicate balance between the body and mind. In the complex and challenging reality we have been living in since the beginning of the war and the events of October 7th, we are witnessing a continuing rise in the demand for mental health services for children and adolescents, and we are doing everything we can to provide immediate and long-term support in every possible way. Dr. Ben-Aroya Milstein takes on a challenging and essential task – ensuring the mental health of our children, and we are thrilled about her appointment. We would also like to express our gratitude to Prof. Silvana Fennig, who led the division in recent years and expanded its essential services for the entire hospital and within the community to benefit Israel's children."
