Activities were coordinated between Clalit Health Services and the Ruah HaTova charity and took place at two locations. Working with children on the autistic spectrum at the Rabin School in Petach Tikva, six game and activity stations were manned by 30 Schneider employees who volunteered their time to play with the children. Another 25 Schneider employees helped to paint, clean, organize, refurbish and enhance the outdoor courtyard at the rehabilitation nursery school for migrant children. The nursery school is a private home comprising three floors.
For the past decade, many Israelis from all over the country participate in this national volunteer project. Clalit Health Services promotes the activity having encouraged more than 4000 employees to take time out from their routine day and volunteer in a range of projects operated by organizations dealing with the challenged population, thus joining hundreds of other organizations in Good Deeds Day.
As Prof. Joseph Press, Director of Schneider Children’s, noted, “It is very important for Schneider Children’s to participate in this volunteer activity. I am proud of the staff at the hospital for their interest and willingness to show responsibility and caring for others less fortunate.”
Good Deeds Day, led by the Ruah Tova organization, has taken place consecutively for the past 11 years. On this day, men and women, young and old, join together as one towards this universal objective of doing good deeds for others. About a million and a half Israelis participated this year in thousands of projects around the country. Private individuals, groups, organizations and business firms arranged a day of varied activities that included improvement and painting welfare institutions, cleaning beaches, fun days for special needs groups, gardening and more.
