Research

The uniqueness of the Department is in its integration of academic research and therapy, and in the existing connections with academic and research institutions in Israel and abroad. Accordingly, within the framework of the department, scores of psychiatric and psychological studies concerning the child and the adolescent are conducted by doctoral and masters students at various universities around the country.

The Schneider Research Center for the Study of the Interaction between Nutrition, Growth and Psychological Development was established for collaborative studies by the Institute of Endocrinology and Diabetes, the Institute of Gastroenterology, Nutrition, and Liver Diseases, and the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Schneider Children’s. One study focused on the development of a new nutritional formula for assisting children's growth without the need for medications such as growth hormone. The clinical trial showed very favorable results and the Center is now working on commercialization of the formula for worldwide distribution. The Center was recognized as an R&D Center by Tel Aviv University in 2010.
